not ashamed!

Most times we end up with thoughts like “we should’ve, could’ve…but…” when it comes to sharing the Gospel. However, if we could only experience the power of God to the fullest, we would end up being eagerly enthusiastic to do the same. Like Paul says in Romans 1:16 - For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek.

G – Gift of God

Why be ashamed of a gift that’s been given to you even when you didn’t deserve it.

Romans 5:8 - But God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

The Gospel is a “too-good-to-be-true" package because it not only comes with just ‘forgiveness of sins’ as some of us think, but also that we stand justified before Christ with a new life to start all over again. When God sees us He sees the righteousness of Christ upon us. We are adopted into his family and the very power that raised Christ from death now lives within us. This very understanding helps us face any situation or circumstance in this life with power and strength anew.

O – Only by Faith in Christ

Why be ashamed when there is nothing you could have done, or could do, to earn it, but rather just believe in the work of the cross.

Acts 16:31 - “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved.”

We are saved only by faith and not ‘faith coupled with “something”’. There are no two ways about it as it clearly says in Acts 4:12 that ‘there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved’.

S – Simple

Why be ashamed when it is as simple as sharing your own story of how God redeemed you.

1 Corinthians 15:3a - For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance…

We believers must ensure to keep it simple and not making it too complicated when we present the gospel. It may be a good idea to start off by sharing our own experience with Christ. There is a high possibility of them giving it a thought as they hear it from someone who has already experienced it as first-hand information.  Like Paul says in Acts 15:19 that we should not make it difficult for the gentiles who are turning to God.

P – Powerful

Why be ashamed when the gospel itself is the “power of God”.

Romans 1:16a - For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes.

It is not by our words that we are able to convince the person to accept Christ but it is only by the power of the Holy Spirit. It is not by human effort but supernatural intervention that a person is actually saved. Therefore we just need to do our bit of sharing the gospel, the rest, God will take care.

E – Exhaustive

Why be ashamed to present the “finished work of the cross”, a debt PAID IN FULL.

John 19:30: When he had received the drink, Jesus said, "It is finished." With that, he bowed his head and gave up his spirit.

God’s plan of redemption existed right from the start because God sees the beginning from the end. There is nothing left undone. When Christ died on the cross of Calvary He said “It is finished!”coz he was pointing to a new covenant of love between Man and God from then on. So, there is nothing you can add or remove to the message of the cross. All you need to do is present it with gentleness and respect.

L – LOVE

Why be ashamed when after all it is a message of love and hope

1 John 4:16: For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

The Bible teaches us that “God is Love”. God’s love toward us is unconditional; it’s not based on feelings or emotions. He loves us because He is love. He created us to have a loving relationship with Him, and He sacrificed His own Son (who also willingly died for us) to restore that relationship.

Therefore, let us stop tip-toeing around the truth, but instead get rid of our inhibitions by making a proud attempt to share the Good News of Christ with as many people as possible.
