The greatest thing a Father can do for his Children is to love their Mother

^25-28 Husbands, go all out in your love for your wives, exactly as Christ did for the church—a love marked by giving, not getting. Christ’s love makes the church whole. His words evoke her beauty. Everything he does and says is designed to bring the best out of her, dressing her in dazzling white silk, radiant with holiness. And that is how husbands ought to love their wives. They’re really doing themselves a favor—since they’re already “one” in marriage.

A teaching that has resurfaced frequently in the history of the Christian Church is this:

• A child assumes his basic concept of God based upon the image of his own father – the human father is seen as a reflection of the Heavenly father.
• A child draws his basic concept of the Church based upon the example of his mother – her daily practical nurturing, teaching, admonishing, and disciplining are internalized by the child as a reflection of these same spiritual qualities provided by the Church.
• A child draws his understanding of how God relates to the Church- and thus, how God relates to him as a member of the Church- by watching how his father relates to his mother, and she to him.

Your example of how you treat your wife is a living parable to your children about how God wants to relate to them!

Are you available to your wife? Do you praise and support her? Are you helpful to her? Do you provide for her?

Ask yourself today, ’Do I treat my wife as I hope the Lord will treat me?”
