David had come a long way from his sheep-tending days to sitting on throne of thrones. God had established him as king over Israel (2 Samuel 5:12).
He had just completed the construction of his palace. He looks out of his palace window one day and sees the Ark of the Lord, housed in a tent; And he wonders . . . “Look at this: Here I am, comfortable in a luxurious house of cedar, and the Chest of God sits in a plain tent.” 2 Samuel 7 (MSG) It somehow seemed inappropriate to David to live in such splendor, while the ark of God was lying in a tent. The very thought made him sleepless. A plan begins to unfold in his mind. Why not build a House for God, a Temple? No sooner, David calls his friend and confidant, Nathan the prophet, and outlines his intentions. This second house was to be a TEMPLE, a Dwelling Place for the Most High; a place where the Ark could be kept in more fitting surroundings. As members of the NLAG family we have often felt that way. A constant prayer rises from our hearts is "Lord, enable us to build your House!" David called out to his people saying bring in your offerings to the Lord, and everyone brought gold and silver cheerfully so much so that they lost count. While Israel was building God's House (2 Samuel 7:8-16) See what God promised David V16. Your house and your kingdom will endure forever before me[b]; your throne will be established forever.” The Lord blessed us with a beautiful piece of land. The time has now come for us to build OUR House of God. I am pleased to announce that we shall start the construction soon. Brick by Brick we shall build the House of God. Yes the task ahead of us is magnificent but not impossible... As Nehemiah surveyed the task ahead He knew it was not the job of one man or one team or family to build. Every body had a role to play... There was no scope for missing links... No room for error... Small Stones and Big.. Brick by Brick... Rich and Poor alike... Young and the Old together... Every one laid a hand... Every Family contributed their time and energy and money... Let us join hands dear people of God..., Brick upon brick.... Every stone... Every pane ... Together We Can... We shall not rest until the foundation is dug and the pillars are laid...and the house of God is built. In Jesus Name, Amen !
