Applying Biblical Principles To My Job & Business

The Bible offers plenty of instruction regarding our job function and business success:
  1. WHATEVER YOU DO IN WORD OR IN DEED, DO IT FOR THE LORD - Colossians 3:17 (NIV) 17 And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus,
As a Christian, you are a spiritual being; therefore your work life is as spiritual as your devotional life. It all belongs to God. As you perform your job, realize you are living for Christ. He should receive honor through your job / business just as he does through your Church involvement.  
 
Ephesians 5:15,16(NIV) 15 Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise, 16 making the most of every opportunity
 
  1. DO ALL THINGS WITHOUT GRUMBLING & DISPUTING
Philippians 2:14 (NIV) 14 Do everything without grumbling or arguing.
Don’t be a complainer, as the world is full of them. Do everything readily and cheerfully. Be a breath of fresh air in this polluted society. Provide people with a glimpse of good living and carry the light-giving Message so you’ll have good cause to be proud of you on the day that Christ returns. You’ll be living proof that I didn’t go to all this work for nothing.
  1. BE HUMBLE  - Proverbs 11:2 (NIV) 2 When pride comes, then comes disgrace, but with humility comes wisdom.
 Follow Jesus’ example: Christ resigned his heavenly throne to live as a commoner among the people he created. Even secular leadership pundits recognize that great leaders are humble people who make the places they lead great.
    4. WATCH WHAT YOU SAY - Proverbs 10:19-21 (MSG)19 The more talk, the less truth; the wise measure their words.20 The speech of a good person is worth waiting for; the blabber of the wicked is worthless. 21 The talk of a good person is rich fare for many, but chatterboxes die of an empty heart.
 
Words aptly spoken can encourage and inspire others. Careless talk can destroy you and your listener. Think before your speak. Winning an argument gives temporary gratification, but winning a friend brings lasting satisfaction. Do you tend to inspire people, or injure them?
 
  1. KEEP LEARNING – Proverbs 1:5 (NIV) 5 let the wise listen and add to their learning, and let the discerning get guidance
Smart leaders realize there is much they don’t know. Keep reading, studying, and seeking advice. Maintain a teachable spirit. Don’t let pride hinder you from growing. The Bible is a treasure book of wisdom, and even secular leaders are discovering that Biblical principles male solid business sense.
 
6.   GUARD YOUR INTEGRITY – Proverbs 2:7,8 (NIV) 7 He holds success in store for the upright, he is a shield to those whose walk is blameless, for he guards the course of the just and protects the way of his faithful ones.
 
Whether you are in a Govt. sector / corporate or a Church ministry, you are an ambassador for Christ. Your integrity is priceless. Don’t allow anyone or anything to demolish it. God’s word is full of promises for those who honor him (I Sam 2:30) Scripture also warns us that if we pervert our ways, we will eventually be found out (Pro 10:9)
