Today is Palm Sunday!

It is the day we remember the "triumphal entry" of Jesus into Jerusalem, exactly a week before His resurrection.

Prophet Zechariah prophesied about this event some 450 years before the birth of Jesus:

"Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion! Shout, O daughter of Jerusalem! Behold, your King is coming to you; He is just and having salvation, Lowly and riding on a donkey, A colt, the foal of a donkey” (Zach. 9:9)

All the gospel accounts record the fulfilment of this prophesy. It is referred to as Palm Sunday because of the palm branches that were laid on the road as Jesus rode the donkey into Jerusalem.

Jesus came to Jerusalem not as their Political Messiah but as their Spiritual Messiah. And He promised to return again. “….I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.” (John 14:3)

Well, how does this look like?

1. On Palm Sunday, Jesus came riding on a colt of a donkey but when He returns the next time, He’ll come riding on a great white horse.

2. The first time He came alone but the next time He will come with all His Saints and Angels.

3. Earlier He wore a crown of thorns but now He will be wearing a crown of gold.

4. Then, He was called the “King of the Jews” but now He comes as the “King of kings and Lord of lords.”

5. He had no money for taxes but now He owns everything.

6. The last time He was mocked and jeered but this time ‘every knee shall bow and every tongue shall confess that He is Lord.’

7. The first time He came in the form of a man but the next time He comes as God.

8. He came into our world ‘meek and lowly’ but will return back in power and glory.

9. Last time, He had nails in His hands but this time, He will have a rod of iron.

10. At Calvary, He was hung on a cruel cross but this time He will be sitting on His royal throne.

11. The first time He was judged in Pilate's hall but now, He will be “The Judge.”

12. He came as the Lamb the first time, but He will return as the Lion.

When Jesus returns, He comes to take everyone who has put their trust in Him - to be with Him forever.

Acts 1:11 “Men of Galilee,” they said, “why do you stand here looking into the sky? This same Jesus, who has been taken from you into heaven, will come back in the same way you have seen Him go into heaven.”
