Confident Woman!!

What does it mean to be “confident?”  According to Merriam-Webster dictionary, it is "having a feeling or belief that you can do something well… having confidence."  As Christian women our source of confidence is anchored in God - who never fails or changes. The Bible calls our confidence faith. It is an inner strength and determination inspired by God. Therefore, it is not self-confidence. It is God-confidence.

How then can I be a Confident Woman in this generation? The Bible has examples of bold and godly women who respectfully used their influence very confidently to rescue, protect and guide people in their days.

Ruth chose loyalty and not opportunism - It was because of Jehovah, Ruth chose Naomi. “..your people shall be my people and your God, shall be my God.”  Choosing Jehovah meant casting off gods of Moab and all her past, with its friendships and habits. Ruth’s loyalty teaches us that we must give up all to follow the Lord and serve Him alone. Though a foreigner she went on to receive the blessings of Israel, and became an ancestor of David and Christ.

Lydia chose to obey God - Lydia, a business woman, in the book of Acts in Chapter 16 was present at a ladies meeting at the riverside. Verse 14 says she worshipped God and the Lord opened her heart to listen to the apostle Paul. Lydia was at the right place and made the right choice. She and her household were baptized. This confident woman then went on to be an instrument in establishing the first church at Philippi.

Deborah chose courage - this Prophetess was the only female judge and ruler of any kind in Jewish history. By God's direction, she ordered Barak to raise an army, and engage king Jabin's forces. Barak insisted much upon her presence. Deborah made no hesitation about it, but agreed at once to go with him. The oppressors were defeated and the Jews were free again and remained loyal to God under the wise and leadership of Deborah.
Even in our days, Joni Eareckson Tada, well known as, Joni, was a young girl who was left paralyzed from her neck down in a diving accident. Today, Joni is one of those rare persons who, despite her struggles, went on to be known internationally as a mouth artist, a talented vocalist, a radio host, an author of 17 books and an advocate for disabled persons. Her personal relationship with God helped her overcome the obstacles in her life and she has impacted so many in this generation.
All these godly women had to make a choice and they did it very confidently. We, women of this generation have a great opportunity to be the Confident Women.  Let’s put on the fear of God and obey Him.  We need the inner sincerity and loyalty to develop true character which builds godly strength to accomplish great things for His Kingdom. We must cultivate God-confidence. Let us equip ourselves every day with the Word of God and spend quality time in prayer and fellowship with our Maker. May we be a blessing to those around us with God-confidence!
